 From Facebook Archives

Anyone got any opinions on microwave ovens?
Mine is 18 years old and has a big rust spot inside it which I'm not sure is entirely safe so Fester has offered to buy a new one.
Pink Kitchen  Have a look on Freecycle before you buy one!
The Goddaughter  Defo get a new one!  Rust = exposed metal and metal = boom
Fifi Duson  Don't have one anymore as have enough radiation in my body!!! Xx
Bentonbag  I'm sure - but we can't put our crumpets inside you to defrost can we…
Fifi D  You could try!!!
Strawangel  Nah, buy a new one Ben.....cheap as chips in Asda x
Mrs Frayarn  We had one that was flaking at the end and I was told it could be dangerous.  John Lewis?  They might take your old one off of you too.

So I'm sat there watching Scott & Bailey and Ferretfingers gets the lunchbox out of his 'farm' bag, goes into the kitchen and a little while later comes back with his packed lunch prepared for tomorrow!
Then Thunderthighs says "Put it in the fridge bro, to keep it fresh".
Goodness knows how thick the spread is on his pork luncheon meat sandwich but I'm not looking!
It's my fault for forcing him to make his own picnic for Druridge Bay a few weeks ago.
Is there an emoticon for 'feeling proud but a little redundant'

Useful Uselessness

From Facebook Archives

14 October 2021 at 21:25
Not only is Fester incapable of opening his email account because he can't remember the password is my birth month abbreviated, date and year, but now he can't use this keyboard "because the letters have been worn off".
The letters were worn off by him hammering it for years.
I on the other hand have RSA Copy and Audiotyping so can use a keyboard with some letters missing.
We are now in a situation where I have to open his email account for him, then type any reply, or message he wants to send as he dictates it.
Including attaching any document that may need to accompany it, as that skill's eluded him too.
As has copying files from a memory stick into his various folders.
This is taking "why have a dog and bark yourself" to the extreme.
Mind you, when I get run over by the proverbial bus he's buggered.
Woolerwoman  Very useful this techno phobia.
Bazoukiboy  Erm, get a new keyboard?

Cats Overstocking Goose

Another one a day early as I have the time and inclination, which I may not have tomorrow.

From Facebook archives.

The good news is the car got through its MOT
The bad news is Felix has got an infected scratch on be his ear so it's off to the vet's in the morning.

Anyone thinking of stocking up for the next lockdown:
Tesco Norham Rd had both plain and self-raising flour for 50p a kilo today, and a large pack of penne (and other pasta) for 40p.
They obviously ran out of stock in the last one, then overstocked and now want rid.

One of these beauties will be joining us for Christmas dinner.
It will have had a nice life, in a nice place, free range eating grass and anything else it fancies.*

Teddy-cat comes into the office and leaps on the worksurface next to Fester.
"Hello cat ... Oh you're going to see her ...
HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?!? ...
How to find out things about your computer - let the cat walk over it."

*This was the nicest goose we have ever had.

Whistling Keyring Monologue

MissDoozer’s comment yesterday reminded me of something that happened many years ago.

Somebody had given me a whistling keyring for Christmas.  If you whistled, it whistled back so you could find it.  Ideal for someone who keeps putting their keys down in random places*.

In the January Phil was asked to do the sound in the Bridge Folk Club for a performance by The Kipper Family: a two-man novelty English folk group, performing as Sid Kipper and his father Henry, supposedly recently discovered traditional folk singers from Norfolk.

Their act was hilarious and included a “whistling monologue”.

To which my damned keyring insisted on responding.
At the front, next to the sound desk, I desperately tried to muffle it.
Shoved it in my glove, inside another glove, doubled over, inside my woolly hat, also doubled over – the damn thing kept audibly peeping and cheeping.
I was hugely relived when that part of the evening was over.

A few days later I told Float, an engineer friend, about my embarrassment.

He looked at me as if I was simple and asked
“Why didn’t you just take the battery out?”

🔑📱⌚

*I now keep my door and car keys on a chain pinned to my belt or pocket and spend time looking for my watch, mp3 player, handbag or mobile phone instead.
Sometimes I end up ringing my mobile from the landline.
