Monday
is Allotment Gardening afternoon at Whonod Community Centre.
Last year there were wireworms in the potatoes so today we limed the raised beds.
After the real work comes the paperwork where the continual assessment of student and teacher is evidenced - or some such.
Anyway the teacher wrote down all the things Ferretfingers had done and then asked the question
"Why did we lime the beds?"
Silence.
Question repeated.
Still silence, whilst Ferretfingers picked at his thumbnails and looked placidly out of the window.
So she tried a leading question
"We limed the beds to kill .....? to kill?"
"A Mocking Bird" was the triumphant reply.
I was proud.
