Just been into the kitchen where Ferretfingers is making a sandwich (brunch? snack?)
Me "Get dressed. Put on wellies. Help me in the garden."
Him "No. Stay in jarmies all day."

This week's schedule!
Monday - 7.30 WI Committee meeting
Tuesday - 13.30 LDNE Volunteers event.
Fester will have to collect Ferretfingers from Ouseburn Farm and he'll have a day without me.  Ferretfingers will be happy as his Dad will take him to Morrisons
(which I hate).  Fester will be not so happy having to climb out of the Ouseburn valley the steeper way (all the ways are steep).
Wednesday - 11.20 Nurse for bloods.
At my Carers' Annual Medical the physician’s assistant looked at the computer and said "Oh! We haven't done your bloods for a while." Deep effing joy at that thought.
Thursday -11.00 Felix follow up at the vet.
                  15.30 collect WI bumf from the previous president.
                  17.00 Fester's birthday tea.
Friday -     9.30 LDNE Board meeting,
                11.00 Knit'n'natter,
                13.30 LDNE Northern Voices discussion/user group,
                19.30 Mrs Leftfoot's birthday celidh.
It was such good drying weather this weekend I got both boys' bedlinen, several towels, underwear, heavy coloured cottons and Fester's 'winter' trousers all washed and dried.
So the ironing basket is full again.
It's a great life if you don't weaken...

Back To The Archives

Skimming the archives yesterday I discovered I’ve only posted on facebook twice on the 1st June, and one of them was yesterday.

However searching the 2nd June revealed a little trove of bijou postings.

I shall start with the earliest five, and save the rest for next year…

Ferretfingers got himself up and dressed at 4.30am - was persuaded back to bed then got up, dressed again at 6.  Followed by his brother at 6.10.
Lord I hope it's cloudy tomorrow!

Next door is up for sale again!  Anyone fancy a 3 bed semi in Benton?
Kingscameraman  Dunno. What are the neighbours like?
Bentonbag  Shirley at no 9 is lovely but those buggers at no 13 are awful.
Since I moved here in 1987 no11 has been occupied by:
Ken, Linda & 3 daughters;
Jen&Jack;
postgraduate student lodgers:-
Karen, 2 offspring and at least two different men;
Sue, 2 sons and husband Brian, who was kicked out after refitting the kitchen at a height that suited her diminutive size, and replaced by at least another two different men;
and the present incumbents Griff, Mandy and baby Erin.
No 15 meanwhile had:-
Joan & Brian (he died she got old);
Dick, Vic and their offspring Arfur & George (a right royal family);
and is presently occupied by Miss Doozer and Doozer Esquire.
The other houses in the street have only changed hands once (if that) in 22 years.
So it must be me - or Fester because it all started after he moved in.

Took the boys for a haircut today.
Ferretfingers' cost £7.50, Thunderthighs' £6.50 (under 14 rate).
The new barber (who looked about 19) actually tried to use a calculator to add it up because he didn't know how to use the till properly either.

Thunderthighs is death to pyjama trousers.
So I now have at least 6 perfectly sound men's pyjama jackets with no matching pants.
Any ideas where they might be found a useful home?
Strawangel  Make a patchwork quilt from them
Pink Shipskitchen  Or, buy some plain PJ bottoms and wear the tops with said plain bottoms x
Squireen  Buy new bottoms and keep the old tops somewhere must do them.

Just booked Thunderthigh’s 18th birthday treat.

A train trip to Edinburgh to ride on the new trams.

I just hope they're running ok on the day or there'll be hell on!
