For many
years (as long as he's lived here) Fester has put his small change into various
tins on the kitchen table "to see how much they hold."
Some
years ago Ferretfingers discovered them and spends many
a happy hour counting the coins into change bags and taking them up to the Post
Office; keeping the cash.
Today I
went up to the Post Office with Ferretfingers and a bag of 20p pieces.
"Oh
hello Ferretfingers" says the man "where's
your Mam? Oh there she is" as I appear from behind him "What have we
got here? £10?"
"Ten
pound note" says Ferretfingers.
The man
doesn't bother to weigh the bags any longer and hands over the note.
Then
"More
plastic bags."
"Say
please" says his mother.
A bundle
of bags are shoved under the screen, we say thanks and depart.
Later
Fester counted up and dumped all the change from the Haymarket rapper weekendin the various pots. Ferretfingers was on it
within minutes.
Good thing he got some more bags.
***
Ferretfingers
has now discovered the change counting and exchange machine in the
supermarket. He always goes and feels in
the rejected coin bit. So far he’s
found a farthing, American and Euro cents and a dodgy looking 20p.
Always reminds me how we, as kids, always used to push button B in the telephone box just in case.
