Hiatus Days Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen – Texts and Journal

“I also communicated with people using the useful “text to many” system (not all of which I’ve kept).  The replies say a lot about my various friends and relations.”

We were in the trauma ward at the top of the building with a view out of the window into a light well of brick walls and frosted glass windows, and up to a triangle of sky and the underneath and keep-net of the helicopter pad.  The down draught from landing helicopters would cause the unlatched window to be pushed open then sucked shut.

Texts Saturday 05/04/2025

13.16 Mrs Leftfoot – Lovely to see you yesterday and it definitely sounded like a good day.  Is Fester with and/or still coming in?  Coz I can come in this afternoon if not.
13.22 to Mrs Leftfoot – Fester came early.  Then Thunderthighs fresh from Greggs.  We all had a little lunch together.  They’ve gone home so further visitors welcome.
14.37 to Bazoukiboy – He’s bored but content with his tablet.  I’m doing a lot of reading, knitting and lying down.

Texts Sunday 06/04/2025

18.14 Mrs Leftfoot – All okay? How is the foot?  It ended up with Daughters One and Three and me all lying in bed together this morning.  We then went to see mum with Son Two.  Daughter Three has such a way with her and it worked out really well.  Then a trip to the Tesco at Kingston Park … a bit of a treat.  I’ve just sorted the car insurance and it is a big weight off my mind.  Daughter Three is cooking dinner.  I hope the doctor has some good news for you tomorrow. xx
18.22 to Mrs Leftfoot – Fester came in.  I went home for a bath, hairwash, change of clothes/book/knitting pattern & email clearing.  Ernextdoor gave me a lift back.  Love to u et al x

Texts Monday 07/04/2025

09.11 Text to Many – Ferretfingers has had a bed bath & clean pyjamas for today’s ward round/wound view.  Everything crossed.
09.17 Pearl – Indeed I have the prayer mat out. Xxxxxxxxx

Monday 7 April 2025 18.20 – RVI

Two helicopters today which might explain why nobody senior has been to see Ferretfingers.
A sweet little houseman (female veiled) turned up after lunch and asked a few general questions.  She attempted to reply to my questions but seemed to know even less than me; telling me very little I didn’t already know or not know.
So here we are still.
Ferretfingers had beans with both lunch and tea today; so tomorrow should be interesting.
The stuff coming out of him ankle into the canister is more straw coloured than red.
A good sign?  Who knows?

18.36 Text to Many – No movement today.  Only medic seen a sweet little junior house officer who asked general questions & seemed to know less than me.  2 helicopters today so they’ve been busy.

18.48 to Dr E – I’m afraid even after he’s out there will be twice weekly dressings clinics.  I can’t see Fester taking him so I’m having to accept I can’t go south this Spring.  I wonder if Mrs Fitz sister could take my place gratis.  Or even MrDrE.  Or another lady
18.50 DrE – I think I booked so that we can cancel, will check tomorrow.
18.51 DrE – You can always visit later and see the sites.  Can offer double bed and double sofa bed.
18.56 Middlesister – Someone should have seen u.  Has Ferretfingers had his dressing checked as you were told?xx
19.10 to Mrs Eft – Have told DrE I won’t be able to make the Coven as Ferretfingers will have to be taken to dressings clinics and I can’t see Fester doing it.  I’ve phoned Mrs Fitz and suggested her sister might take my place.  Really p’d off I won’t see the Niece and Griblings.

20.00

I’ve texted Dr E as I won’t be able to make the Coven due to dressings clinics.
Phoned Mrs Fitz to offer my place to her sisters as Mrs Eft has has to pull out too.
What really upsets me is that I won’t be able to go on to Bournemouth to see the Niece, the Griblings and Nephew-in-law.  I was looking forward to that even more than the Coven to be honest.
But I suppose I’ll be able to catch up on the ironing and gardening.
Thoroughly pissed off.
Today is Dad’s anniversary.
Shoulders back.
Chin up!
Cofiwch Gwraig Lot.
