I've just found and read a letter from Mum dated 7 May 1993.
Ms
Exlibris I
bet that was an emotional moment..
Bentonbag
It was,
especially as it was written before Alzheimer's got its teeth into her. But it was strangely comforting as well
because for a moment she was back with me as she really was when she had all
her faculties.

My car's
been lying to me again.
Brake pads worn
warning light, bleeper
"contact garage" message.
Off to Kwik Fit.
Nothing wrong with them.
Loose wire taped up.
No charge.
Good lads.

We're
back and, when we've finished Fester's birthday tea, I shall be making an album
of the latest Scottish trip photos.
He's
65 today and was worried about celebrating because of what happened when he
turned 60 (his brother Stephen died). But so far so good ...
Mrs Poet welcome
back!
Mr Monkshood Wish him
happy birthday from me please Ben.
Sheffield Cousin Wish him a
happy birthday from us in Sheffield. Didn't realise it was today; my Mam (his
Aunt Gladys) would have been 100 today.
Mrs Banjoman Wish him a happy birthday from my husband and me as well please.
Mrs
Leftfoot Happy Birthday, Fester. Hope you've
all had a good day. X
Burney Please say
happy birthday from me and give him a big cuddle. Say hullo to the boys as well
from me.
The Late Happy
birthday Fester
It's
Fester's birthday today.
Being Wednesday Thunderthighs is at college this
afternoon so we did the Tesco/big shop after dropping Ferretfingers off at
Norham first thing this morning.
When we got home Thunderthighs suggested he come home early so he could
"help with birthday tea".
We said no and he had to stay until 4.
His
reply "If college had a motto it would be 'We'll keep you here until rush
hour!'"
