Today
is Phil’s anniversary (33 years)
It
took me fifteen years to get my birthday back from being ‘the day before Phil
died’.
I
can see him pursing his lips and giving me ‘the look’ for taking so long – but hey
my grieving,
my time.
After all, I
did as he told me the day he wrote his will and we discussed his funeral.
Getting up from the table he turned and pointed at me saying
“And
you – you’re not to sit here moping – you’re to go out, and do things, and be
with people.”
But
this year is different again.
Perhaps
because of George.
Because
somewhere way back in the back of my mind I can hear Phil’s chesty chortle and George’s throaty giggle.
Like
two schoolboys revelling in each other’s company and wit.

Phil's
anniversary today.
Driving
to Lidl I saw George (Welch) proceeding along Chilly Rd.
The
traffic was slow enough for me to wind the window down, call out
his name and blow him a kiss.
Happy coincidence?
