The Eyes Have It

From Facebook archives
18 January 2012 at 18:17
Oh great! Thunderthighs' left eye is red and itchy and the school nurse thinks it's conjunctivitis so we're been up to the pharmacy and have drops to put in EVERY TWO HOURS!!! and he's off tomorrow
Squireen  Good luck
Paganess  Unless it's very severe 4 hourly while he's awake should be fine.
Bentonbag  He's read the instructions - we won't get away with less than 2 hourly now! He's actually being very good about having them done - loves the attention and does the poorly soldier bit 😀

No Breakfast

“He’ll fade away to a house end”

as Mother used to say.

Well it happened.
Ferretfingers took so long to get up and dressed and faffed about so long making his breakfast
(cereal hardly cordon-bleu)
the taxi arrived as he was putting it on the table - so he had to go to college without.
Taxi ladies think I'm a witch and "it's a boy thing",
but I've been threatening this consequence for ages.
Might buck his morning ideas up for a week or two.
Strawangel  I've threatened in the past to put my son on the bus in his PJ's.......there's been a few times where he's had to go into school hungry because he wouldn't get sorted.
Don't worry, one day won't hurt him.
And tell the taxi wife to come and help you out on a morning if she thinks you're grotbags......she'll sharp shut her mouth
Bentonbag  To be fair the taxi ladies are lovely, remind me of my Auntie Ed (God rest her soul) but I could tell by the looks on their faces what they were thinking
Mrs Frayarn  We had that with the daughter a few times and last term the bus driver finally went off without her.  As a consequence she now only gets a lift home on bus and I have to take her, but she has to leave an HOUR earlier because I have to get back for the son.

The Sneeze

Driving Ferretfingers to GetALifeGroup yesterday evening and, out of the blue, he suddenly said "Do you know what happened this morning?  I sneezed over the whole class in college."
This is the first time EVER he's volunteered any information about anything that has happened in his day.
He's 19.
There is no emoticon to express the mixture of sadness and happiness ....
FifiD  "Bless you" for the sneeze and the moment!! Xx
Mrs KA  WoW!...xxxxxx
Mrs Poet  Momentous! X
Mr Gobiron  I suppose sneezing over just one person would have been too mundane for such a special event.
Bentonbag  I'm afraid he's inherited his mother and grandfather's explosive sneeze and covering a whole room in one sneeze would not be out of the ordinary.  I once sneezed in the street and an old lady 100 yards away jumped.  Middlesister, God bless her, once sneezed so hard she gave herself a nosebleed.

Nightcaps

From Facebook Archives

I’ve had a very pleasant evening at Tyne Bridge's annual meal, am feeling very mellow and considering taking a gin'n'tonic to bed.
Mr EPh  Gin & tonic to bed ?
Bentonbag  Oooh yes - two hotwaterbottles, a nice quilt, a good book or something daft on the telly, a cat for company and a nice g'n't - what more could a girl want.
Besides which he snores and it helps to be anaesthetised
Strawangel  There's many a time I've taken my glass of red and a box of chocs to bed.
Bentonbag  My other favourite is a TiaMaria milkshake.  Half fill a tall glass with ice, cover the ice with TiaMaria, fill up with ice cold milk. Sybaritic or wot?
Strawangel  Mmnn, definately!

Snowing

From Facebook Archives, when Thunderthighs had a morning paper-round and was out of the house by 7am.

14 January 2016 at 08:21
Snowing.  According to Thunderthighs it started at 7.10.  So it must be going some as there's a good inch on the rooves around here.
Miss Doozer  Sounds about right.  It's been chucking it down with sleet since at least six. Alarm went off, I went 'nope', fed the cats and went back to bed.
Bentonbag  I've had to put a newspaper under his coat in the hall to catch the snowmelt drips because someone (probably Fester) will go base over apex otherwise.
Mrs Lasagne  None here at the coast Ben, rain rain and more rain xxxx
Mrs Heath  He's right Ben, I looked out the window at 7.00 and it was just raining xxx
Bentonbag  The Day Centre just rang.  The minibus has been stuck at the Holystone roundabout for about half an hour and they didn't expect to get here for an hour or so.
Does Ferretfingers want to go or does he want to stay at home?
"Stay at home" he said in a loud, clear and firm voice.
The man of the house has just risen from his bed and is opening negotiations with me and Thunderthighs with regard to going and getting the paper.

Decisions Decisions

Fortunately Facebook friends are always ready to give the answer one prefers.

From Facebook archives.

Ferretfingers has chopped up the tree, cleared out the grate and fireplace, hoovered the hearthrug and some other mats.
Thunderthighs has done the litter tray.
All this took a huge amount of 'encouragement' and assistance from mother.
The question is do I now:
a) attack the ironing mountain
b) sit down, watch tv and knit.
Mrs Poet  No question:b
Supercosmic  B....xxx
Woolerwoman  Well done lads and mum! xx Definitely the sitting-down option.
Bentonbag Sometimes I love you people on facebook 🙂 😘 😍
Supercosmic  Only sometimes?
Madame Fifi  B
Mrs Quilt  No contest - I don't suppose Thunderthighs could see the joy of ironing at all!
Kentishlady  B, without a doubt 😀
Drummerman  B.
Mrs BW  B
Cousin Daisy B for sure 👍 😇
Bentonbag  How are you Daisy?  The sisters always ask.
Cousin Daisy  Slowly getting there thanks Ben xx
Ms Telyn  Always b Ben...xx
