Stuff Swimming

From Facebook Archives

4 September 2018 at 19:18

Tuesday being the day I have to myself as both boys are out I went out to get some milk and bananas from Iceland, and to drop a bag of dead socks into
St Oswald’s Hospice Shop's ragbag.
Took the opportunity to have a good Ferretfingers-free rake around and came out with:
two cds for the car (one a doubler),
three greetings cards (50p each),
two bags of yarn for Knit'n'natter
and a very large dinner plate.
I was very tempted by a golf umbrella but resisted.
Mrs Leftfoot  More "stuff"? (I'm desperately trying to get rid).
Bentonbag  All will be used, or given away, one way or another.

This morning, as Ferretfingers was going swimming, and putting his trunks on under his pull ups, I popped a pair of underpants in the pocket of his backpack.
Doing a final check to make sure he had his BeyoncĂ© belt I noticed some blue material in the main part.
"What's that?"
"Underpants."
"Another pair of underpants?"
"Yes, two pairs of underpants for the price of one."
intoned in the most serious voice possible.
Emil and I were in fits.

Per Parking Permit Peeve

Feel free to share
Miss Doozer  Just tried to get a replacement for ours and it's asked for a PIN.... a what now?
Bentonbag  You do wonder whether they ever test run these things on normal people before inflicting them on the general public.
Drummerman  Like the idea of a “snottogram”.  Around the time I started my last job one colleague was known for their “scud memos”.  The missile reference dates this somewhat, as does the sending of memos.
Bentonbag  It's my brother's coinage but I'm happy to get it into public circulation.
BJ  I've tried to explain to the parking permit team at the council where I work that their online form baffles people.  At one point it tells you to upload documents which it hasn't told you to scan, and if you don't you have to start again.  The V5C is referred to several times, but by a different name each time.  And they insist on using US-style driver's license (with varying apostrophes) instead of UK driving licence.  It's not just you or North Tyneside!
Bentonbag  Feel free to share the blog with them.  North Tyneside's form also assumes you know about scanning documents, or will photograph them on your smartphone.
Also I suspect the US spelling is due to the platform.  I find if I copy something off here or twitter onto a document it suddenly reverts to US spellchecking and neighbour or colour get underlined.  Very annoying as my spellchecker is firmly British English.
The thing is people must complain or the bastards just carry on regardless.
And why do they need these documents and information?
If they can send me a parking ticket using the car's number-plate then they can send me a permit as well.

Post Script

This year the resident’s and visitor’s permits cost £30 each.

Visit Boxes Blog Milestone

From Facebook Archives

2 September 2009 at 23:10

Have just got back from having an evening with Bigsister, brother in law, Cousin Daisy and cousin's husband - the excuse being the sister's visit to the North East and the cousin's husbands 79th birthday.
Good food, and drink, lots of talk, reminiscing and laughter.

Back from sorting and packing in Sheffield (115 boxes so far and 3 cupboards left) to find staircase up to loft (but blocked at bottom) new little holes in walls and ceilings with bits of cable hanging out. Someone is going to have to hoover the landing .....
Float  Car boot sale?
Bentonbag  Auctioneers - I know the multipla has a large cargo area but we'd need a removal van for that lot - and car boot sales from now 'til the next millennium.
That's only the 'collectables' - when they're gone there'll be the rest of the house contents to sort out.

I've blogged
Feel free to share
Mrs Leftfoot  I was expecting Sadie the Bra Lady today!
Bentonbag  I fear you will be disappointed tomorrow too.
Drummerman  Three?
Mrs Leftfoot  Eh?
Drummerman  I ask ze kwestions…
Well, Ben’s heading was “three for two”, and you referenced Sadie.  Also I was recalling a quote from “I’m SorryI’ll Read That Again “, a radio programme from before your time.
Mrs Leftfoot  Way, way before my time.
I'm none the wiser, but no doubt Ben understands you perfectly.
Bentonbag  No, you've lost me on that one.
Drummerman  That’s a win of sorts, but truly, if you have to explain, it ain’t funny. I’ll get my coat…
