Happy Blaydon Races Day
I’m Back, but just for today. My
3 boys and I had a lovely week in Wales and I shall be blogging about it at a
later date when I’ve caught up on laundry, prepared some other things I need to
do, and return from next weekend’s Coven.
This blogette is to reassure anyone who’s worried I may have dropped off
my perch rather than out of circulation.
There is to be a gathering of the clan in July to celebrate Bigsister
and Spouse’s Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
It is to be in a Southcoast town where the Niece and Greatniece (just
turned 3) dwell with her Spouse/father. I
had forsworn all such gatherings but when I was assured we’d be staying in
hotels and not “joined at the hip” I agreed to consider it. I love my siblings as much as the next
misanthrope but they’re usually in pairs at these sort of things and I tend to
be on my own.
Which is nobody’s fault
but it’s lonely and leads to sad thoughts about might-have-beens that do not
take me to a happy place.
But: Sisters, in-laws, niece and
great niece we’ve not seen since she was 6 months old.
Then I had a brainwave.
Fester would naturally prefer to stay at home with Ferretfingers.
Thunderthighs, on the other hand, is family orientated, loves his Cousin
and Littlecousin and deserves to find out about his relations on his own
terms. When Dad died he was the one who
escorted me to the funeral, and I’d never been as proud of him.
Ferretfingers has had a couple of respite weekends away.
Thunderthighs was brilliant during the trauma of his brother’s broken
ankle, and deserves some sort of a treat.
We all think him accompanying me is a Good Thing.
The Travelodge is booked and last week Cross Country released the
railway tickets so today I went down to the Station to buy them.
As I was about to leave the house the phone rang.
Middlesister.
This led to the following texts betwixt me and Mrs Leftfoot whilst I was
on the Metro:-
Bentonbag: Middlesister just
rang to c if I’m ok as I haven’t blogged since getting back. We spoke on Sunday.
Mrs Leftfoot: That is really
sweet that she thought of that. Since
you are here: Do you fancy walking across to Lindisfarne one day? Like sooner rather than later. I was thinking it might do we good.
Bentonbag:
I’d luv a trip to
Lindisfarne.
Not sure about
PilgrimsCauseway.
V slimy in places & no
parking land side.
But if tides right
could park on island & walk out to refuge & back.
Mrs Leftfoot:
Pack it in.
If you can run round a beach
naked you can
roll in some mud.
We could pretend it’s
the Dead Sea.
Bentonbag:
That mud thing made
me laugh so much I missed my stop!
In
Gateshead & want to b in Central to buy tickets to Southcoast.
Next weekend is the Coven meeting which was originally planned for
April 2020.
When I was in hospital with
Ferretfinger’s broken ankle the thought of getting away with the girls kept me
going.
Then this present unpleasantness
came upon us and it was postponed to
October and then to next weekend.
So don’t
expect any further outpourings until 15 June, at the earliest.
