Cast Off and Hats Off

Hats off to the plaster department of the RVI.
They remembered that I write things down for Ferretfingers to read and bought a wipeable whiteboard for our visit today.
The cast is off.
He can put weight on his right foot it but is unwilling.
The consultant has signed him off with "The best thing to do now is forget it ever happened.  And walking.  Walking is the best thing.  I'll get the physio to see you before you go home."
We've seen a physio and he has crutches and a sheet of exercises.
They'll be sending us an appointment at the Freeman.*
I can't see him getting upstairs any time soon.
We can't take him swimming because all the pools are shut.

Thunderthighs, God bless his cotton socks, has just been shopping at Sainsbury's for cat-food, cereals and fruit-juice.

Fester is in bed shivery and feverish (not a euphemism).

As one door closes another one shuts - as Mother used to say.

Daisy Good news at RVI for you.  Great hospital like all ours up in Geordie land - high standards of care. We are truly blessed.  Now more fun begins for you.  It will be so strange for Ferretfingers not the easiest of things to cope with.
Miss O'B Please shout up if you need anything if you need to isolate x
Drummerman Hope Fester hasn’t got “it”.
MrsPH - Hope you are better now!!
Isn't that great of Thunderthighs - he seems to have been a real help God Bless him.xx
Fester got the man flu? Best isolate him for a while. You deserve a medal.
Miss Doozer -  We are working from home for the foreseeable future. Shout for shopping etc x

Fester is a lot better than last night. He's had 3 pints of tea and similar amounts of water today. It sounds a lot like whatever felled me last week, but not as violent or long lasting.
I shall still be sleeping in the back bedroom though as I need the peace.
MrsPH Glad Fester's getting better. You'll all be fit a healthy and ready to be quarantined just in time.

Thunderthigs reminded me so much of my mother when he came in, from the bus, carrying two large bags of shopping.
When I was a child she took the bus 3 miles into Llandeilo every Wednesday (when the fish van was in town) and Friday (for the Sunday joint) and carried three bags of shopping up the hill to our house.  During school holidays I would sometimes go with her.  The last stop was always Lil’s shop by the bus stop for Kensitas cigarettes, a quarter of mint imperials and an ice lolly for me.

*I doubt that will be happening now due to the coronacrisis
