Jolene!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixrje2rXLMA

Facebook Archives are a bit thin at the times we’ve been away on holiday, so this is a couple of days early, but has plenty for readers to chew on.

I’m going to be busy tomorrow and Saturday so expect nothing, and then we’re away for a week.
From Facebook Archives…
It's been a funny few days.
On Monday I made an appointment for Ferretfingers to have his ankle X-rayed as the scar keeps getting infected (11 April).
Yesterday morning I took Ferretfingers to have his teeth scraped and the dentist who did Thunderthighs's fillings was there.  We're still waiting for an appointment to have his wisdom tooth damaged molar removed under sedation and a lump came off it last week (no pain).  I had a word and he suggested I make an appointment and he'd have a look and maybe 'tidy it up' a bit.
When he got home Thunderthighs agreed so today I made him an appointment for that (13 April 2.30 as I have a mammogram screen at 10.30).
Strangely, somehow when dialling the dental surgery number I got through to the Heart Transplant surgical Unit which was confusing to both concerned.
This morning I had a Carer's Review at my GP surgery, and I now have to measure my blood pressure for a week.  At least she didn't want to take blood.
Then to Sainsbury's with Thunderthighs and down to Ouseburn Farm to collect the knitting I forgot on Tuesday afternoon.
This afternoon the lovely Mabel from LDNE came to talk about Ferretfingers's weight/health/diet and ways we might help him (if only certain persons would stop feeding him quite so much carbs).
Later Mrs Eft and her dog called for tea and a visit - during which Bigsister rang.
There's been an awful lot of talking today, no wonder I'm thirsty.
Off to watch rubbish on tv.
There may be drink taken.
Oh and Fester is lying on the bed snoring (trouser and shoe less but don't tell
Mrs Leftfoot)
Mrs Poet  Hey, Ben, what a day! Hope you get some TLC when Fester wakes up, and tomorrow some respite
Ms Exlibris  Blimey, I'm exhausted just reading that!  Calmer days ahead I hope if you are monitoring your blood pressure
Bentonbag  Ms Exlibris  Like Hell!
All hell broke loose this morning because Thunderthighs's ear wax (there's another saga) was irritating him, causing temporary deafness and anxiety (but not pain) expressed in shouting a lot.  His father was less use than a chocolate fireguard because his answer was to do a lot of shouting too, mostly from a recumbent position.  At which point my elastic snapped and I joined in.
Miss Doozer and Doozer Esquire - That explains this morning's noises.
Thunderthighs has an appointment for syringing on Monday morning; which I had to arrange and will accompany him to.
Things are a little tense in the Benton-Fester household at the moment; knit&natter was a huge relief and prevented a lot of things from being said.
There are days when if it wasn't my house I'd go.
Doozer Esquire  You're always welcome to pop into ours for tea / gin / hard drugs (delete as appropriate for situation) and bitching about things if it gets too annoying.
The cat will probably bring you a sock for you to shout at...
Bentonbag  I rang the surgery and, miraculously, the lady who organises their annual medicals picked up the phone.  He has a syringing appointment at the Oxford Centre 10am Monday Thanks Be To God.
Now if I can keep myself from knifing him before then ...

Underwhelming French Tart

From Facebook Archives

25 March 2018
Feeling very refreshed after:-
two nights with no snoring as Fester is away at Dancing England Rapper Tournament with Conway;
an afternoon and night without Ferretfingers as he is at the Calvert Trust Keilder with LDNE;
and a Pitcher & Piano cocktail, lunch at the Baltic and walk back up into town with Pearl.

If you sign up to the Pitcher & Piano’s website they email you a code for a free cocktail* each month.  You have to have their choice of cocktail but at £7.50 a throw that’s no sacrifice.   Pearl and her cycling mates go at least once a month.

I didn’t have a code so was torn between a Mint Julep and a French Tart.

I plumped for a French Tart but was underwhelmed.  It was however quite effective as we were quite flushed and giggly over lunch.

*This offer no longer exists, and the price of cocktails is now higher, but they do have other interesting inducements.

The PTA Cupboard

Christmas 2010 was so snowy, icy and frosty that the Woodlawn Boxing Day Xmas Pudding Fun Run had to be cancelled.

A few weeks before the Run the Woodlawn Parents & Friends Association, Poly Runners and other friends would meet in school to put a pudding, certificate and brochure into Start Fitness bags, making it easy to hand them out as runners came home.
It wasn’t possible to postpone the Run to another date so Mrs Treasurer and I had to empty the bags; find, remove and find a use for any puddings that would be past their 'best before date' before Christmas 2011.

From Facebook Archives, again a day early.

25 March 2011 at 14:20
I’ve spent the whole morning with Mrs Treasurer in the corridor and PTA cupboard at Woodlawn sorting out 1000 bags containing Xmas puddings, brochures and certificates into their constituent parts, and putting the puddings back in big boxes, brochures and bags into bags and back in the cupboard and the certificates into recycling.  Sweaty and aching!
Mr DM  More information than is required
Mrs Treasurer  Arms aching now - not quite the day I had in mind!
