Covid Aftermath: And Now Thunderthighs

Facebook post Thursday 19 May 2022 at 08.40

I did a lateral flow test on Thunderthighs at 7.15 this morning because his Hextol work experience supervisor, who he rides in the van with to jobs, tested positive for Covid yesterday.
Thunderthighs's test at tea time last night had a tiny faint line, and an even fainter one this morning, but it's still a positive so I'm afraid Ferretfingers won't be able to do his activities with Emil this week.
And, following protocol, I shouldn't really go to knit'n'natter tomorrow as I'd hate for any of our ladies to feel like I did a couple of weeks ago.
Thunderthighs is feeling well.
He's planning to walk to the gym (45minutes) and check if there are any signs up about Covid.  If so he'll walk home.  If not he'll do a session and come home - I'm not sure how but he'll be masked if it's on the bus.
I'm still low on stamina.
Well at least I'll get some gardening done.
Ferretfingers is going to be most disappointed when he gets up.
Mrs Lasagne  I’m so sorry you’ve have been so poorly we have the same here with the ones who were positive for fourteen days X it’s an awful disease.
Woolerwoman  It's horrible and does drain stamina. Hope the boys are not ill too and that we all get to some semblance of normal soon.x
Squireen  I thought that there was no need to isolate if you are a contact.
Bentonbag  It's the LDNE protocol that household contacts can't use their services or go into the building for at least five days.  They have a lot of vulnerable and/or elderly service users so really need to minimise any risk to them.  Outreach workers (like Emil) go into so many other service users' homes they want to minimise the risk of spread. Also there's been such a lot of staff sickness they want to minimise that too - most admin staff can work from home but the face to face people can't.  The silver lining is I don't have to get up early tomorrow to get Ferretfingers up and out in time.
Squireen  Makes sense
Bazoukiboy  I will pop over when you're all sorted unless you need anything?
Bentonbag  We're fine thanks.  Thunderthighs is still going into shops, and is always masked. Fester is too (mostly).  And I have a source of buckshee tests so we're sorted there too.  We can always do a socially distanced sitting-in-the-garden cup of tea.

Covid Aftermath: To Tell The Tooth

Facebook post Wednesday 18 May 2022 at 10.83

Some of you will know that I was supposed to have my broken tooth out under sedation at the Dental Hospital today.
However last night I read the patient's instruction sheet properly and realised that I was Covid positive seven days ago, and they need people to be negative for at least 10 days.
As soon as possible this morning (8.40) I phoned and explained, and apologised for not realising sooner. The receptionist asked how I was and I told her honestly that I still had a cough, claggy throat and little stamina, and it's been rescheduled for June 29th.
If Pearl can't be my companion I may have to ask for another volunteer.
Fester's reaction?
"Oh you can spend the day in the garden then" as he wafts out for a walk.

Covid Day Eleven: Not Testing

Facebook post Thursday 12 May 2022 at 08.54
Not testing this morning as
a) too depressing
b) I'm not going anywhere anyway
I'm at the heavy cold stage, which is better than the chest infection stage I was at last week.
Drummerman  I haven’t been testing up to now, since if I have symptoms I’ve still got it! Thought I’d try this morning: instant red line.
Mrs Poet  Take care, lovely.  Think you’ll like the series Here We Go - gently funny family stuff.xx
Miss GW  Take care x
Miss Doozer  Let me know if you want another box of tests to depress yourself with

Covid Day Eight: Positive Test Blues

Email to family and friends 09.29 Monday 9 May 2022

Hello All

Well I feel a lot better than I did this time last week.

The headache has gone as has the worst of the cough: it still sounds like 40 Woodbines a day but isn't waking me at night.

My sense of smell and taste went for a while but are coming back (it's really weird shoving your nose in a jar of Vicks and getting nothing).

I'm no longer completely exhausted but I have no stamina and have to keep having little lie downs when I do anything and am quite snotty.

I've just done a lateral flow test and am still positive.

The good news is I got Fester to do one on Ferretfingers yesterday and he is clear of Covid, and has never shown any symptoms anyway, so he can go to the Day Centre today and Emil can take him out on his Thursday and Friday activities.

Tuesday at Ouseburn and Wednesday at the Rising Sun depend on me being able to accompany and transport him.  So we shall have to see what tomorrow's test brings.

There will be more blogs when I'm up to it.

Cheers

B

Covid Day Seven #2 TV Moan

Facebook Post Sunday 8 May 2022 at 18.39
I would go and lie on the bed only "I never watch television me" is there again watching Shed & Buried.
If I tell him to go downstairs and watch on the living room tv where he/it won't annoy me I get
"Oh I can't watch telly, I'll just fall asleep."
So what's the effing difference falling asleep down there?
Where he and these smug bastards won't annoy me?

bikerhub.co.uk  New Series of Shed & Buried on TV in May | Biker Hub UK  Henry Cole and Sam Lovegrove are back on screen, on a mission to find vintage treasures in the nation's sheds, in new episodes of Shed & Buried. In this hugely popular returning series, motorcycle-mad Henry Cole and his best friend, engineering genius Sam Lovegrove, resume their quest t ...

Oh great! Now he's flicked over to the news channel until the ads are over.

He could do that downstairs as well.
And, you know, supervise Ferretfingers while he's at it, keep the boy company, stop him series linking rubbish.
He's been doing this all bloody week whilst I've been trying to self-isolate.
Annoying the sh8 out of me.
And stopping me sleeping.

Madame Fifi  Seems like you are having a terrible time Ben.

Paganess  I think a little Welsh straight talking may be required!  Have you tried
'Fuck and keep Ferretfingers company, off I'm ill!!?'  If that hasn't worked satisfy yourself with planning revenge next time man flu hits him!
Bentonbag  Oh believe me words have been had, some of more than one syllable
He just finds it amusing.  Which is why I now have no compuction at opening the curtains and flinging open the window for some fresh air as soon as I'm awake.
Miss Doozer  I can supply some drum n bass, delivered with extreme prejudice and at impressive volume, if required
Mrs Mobilephone  Hope things improve soon Ben missing you here!! X
Councillo GM  New series 😊 Sweet 😂
Bentonbag  Oh believe me every series ever is on an never-ending loop of repeats on Quest or whatever arse-end of the listings channel he finds.  That and some other awful oily half hour where some 'classic' car place in Yorkshire goes out and brings back vehicles to flog.  Or that Gog* from Llandudno who takes a furniture truck around big houses and dealers and gets stuff to renovate and flog onto some other suckers.
It's endless... And then there's the balls - football and anything else involving putting balls in nets or holes or anywhere other than I'd like to shove 'em.

* Gog is what Welsh people call people from North Wales; it's from Gogledd, which is North in Welsh.
