Just back
from fetching Ferretfingers from the Rising Sun Farm, which used to have over a
hundred hens in a large henhouse, about the size of a double garage made of
tubular metal, wooden planks, poly-tunnel material and similar stuff.
Dropping him off this morning I looked and
thought "Is that the henhouse up there?"
Thanks to Arwen the henhouse is up a tree.
They've
recovered about a dozen hens; who are now happily living in the stone based and
more sturdy and sheltered rabbit shed.
No
carcasses though; the breadman thinks the foxes have got them.
But getting
on for ninety hens would take a whole pack of foxes to consume in a weekend.
My
personal theory is that some of them have got blown too far to find their way
home and have gone feral.
But if
you do see some hens wandering about Wallsend or the Country Park, I'm sure
they'd like to know.
Sandy There was one in the chapel
grounds at the end of our street, must have been a canny breeze if that's one.
Henlady Sorry to read this.
