This blog has media tart overtones

Is anyone else of a Welsh persuasion getting increasing annoyed at the BBC pronunciation of Storm Arwen?
It's not "Ah when" or even "Anwen" - as heard on Radio 3 this morning (we're getting cultured us are)
It's "Arr-wen", because we Welsh always roll our Rs.
Ms Delune  I’m Somerset-Welsh, you should hear how I pronounce it . Ooh Arrrrr-wen
Bentonbag   Like a pirate asking for a time check.
Miss Doozer  Do I get a pass for being genetically Lancastrian and therefore unable to roll my rrrs (but fully capable of rhyming 'kettle' with 'deckle')
Bentonbag   Not even in Bury, Ramsbottom and Rochdale?
Miss Doozer  All with a flat R, soz.  I suspect if you rolled any of those Rs when I were a lad, someone would have clouted you one and told you off for having ideas above your station
Mrs Lasagne  You tell them Bentonbag ! Xxxx.  It’s building up now xxx
Mr Mull  Don't argue with Bentonbag over anything Welsh!  Incidentally I was sitting re-watching an old Vera episode last night when you suddenly appeared in a scene set in Alnwick!
Bentonbag   The Squireen once complained that she turned on Radio Newcastle one morning and I was on there (well it was May Day) and Mrs Leftfoot nearly drove off the road when she heard the trailer for iPM with Eddie Mair on Radio 4 (he is a lovely man by the way).

How are we all after the passing of storm Arrwen?
Our backdoor faces North, and the bay window creates a funnel to it, and there is a general swirling of wind around the backyard.  Last night I was very glad that it's a heavy door with a strong bolt holding it shut.  Even so when I went to check at bedtime there was water being blown under the door and it was shuddering as if someone was trying to break in.  I put a wedge by the door jamb, newspaper to sop up the wet and the kitchen chair against it just to reassure myself.
The rubbish and recycling bins have both had a little walk and a lie down.
Anything plastic and light that was in the pottisserie is now strewn all over the garden.
Thunderthighs has volunteered to help tidy up.
Even so there are still two apples and some leaves clinging to the apple tree.
Somehow, even though it's indoors, Ferretfingers' tower of DVDs by the back window has fallen over. It did have quite some lean on it though.
Miss Doozer  Trying to get off Fairways this morning, big branches down, and walls & fences down on the estate.  Trees down all over and New Hartley looks like a bomb dropped.
