Have
spent most of today sorting out a set of bookshelves and throwing out as many
of Ferretfingers’ out-of-date timetables and leaflets as I dare (as well as my accumulated
bumf).
Found one treasure:
a 1980 Folkmoot programme with guess who featuring
as the back cover, replete with Royton hat, beads and silly grin.
Neither Thunderthighs nor Miss Doozer next
door could find the words when shown it.
FOLKMOOT
Tyne & Wear Folkmoot was an international folk festival with performances in various places throughout the county, from Sunderland to North Tyneside, by dancers and musicians from all over the world as well as local teams. Folkmoots took place between 1974 and 1986.
A video of the 1979 Folkmoot procession through Whitley Bay can be viewed here https://www.yfanefa.com/record/27236 . The Kingsmen can be seen dancing Royton about 27 seconds in; their bit lasts about 25 seconds.
Part of a concert of international dancers can be seen and heard here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRCdDUpHSQ
