How Deep?

From Facebook archive – names have been changed to protect the guilty.

Not sure where this lies in the Media Tart stakes but the December 2011 edition of British Journal of Entomology & Natural History contains a paper on ‘Military Activity & Aquatic Invertebrate Habitats in Upland Northern England’ by PhDFester et al; which includes in the Acknowledgements "We thank Bentonbag and The Bavarian Red Squirrel Nut’s daughter for their technical assistance."

In the former case that involved driving himself across to RAF Spadedam numerous times a few summers ago and yomping across, through and over blanket bogs to ponds (and other bodies of water) as a combined photo/note taker and elfinsafety assistant.  Though how I'd have got him out had he sunk in any of the aforementioned bogs stumps me.

There was one famous moment right out in the middle of a bog where he came out with
"Oh don't mither on - it's not that deep - look"
put the end of his 6 foot net-pole in a water hole, and didn't find the bottom.

I'm 5 foot 5...
