The Living Blind

Fom Facebook Archives

This year's South-facing-bay-window tomato plants, aka living blind.
They have not only grown the 6ft to the full height of the window but some have snuk behind the curtain rail and are growing back into the living room.
The bamboo poles they are tied to are stuck to the window frame with gaffer tape;
I've had to reinforce the gaffer tape with more gaffer tape several times to keep them in place.
Needless to say we are only closing the side curtains at night.

Goodness only knows how I'm going to get them down when they senesce.

Drummerman   And the prize for the first use of the word “senesce” in a fb post today goes to...

Thanks to this summer’s heat, and consistent watering, we have an even thicker blind this year helping to cool the front half of the living room.  Yesterday I got the steps out and pruned the tops of the plants coming over the curtain rail.

As well as tomatoes we also have quite a good crop of multi-coloured peppers.
