The year before this was broadcast I went to the one and only reunion of Llandeilo’s last grammar school boys and girls.  

I’d been in touch with one of the boys as I'd found some old letters from a classmate and friend, his sweetheart, from when I’d moved on to university.  They married, had babies and then she’d sadly died and I thought her daughters might be interested in seeing the letters.

Not long after the broadcast I got an email from him

“I was working from home on the 6^th so I had tea in front of the telly and who should appear but you.  So I was straight on the phone to the boys to tell them to watch.”

It amused me so much to think of them, after all those years, phoning around saying 

“Put BBC One on, Ben is on it.”
