Beadnell, Budle Bay & A Causeway Metaphor

“As Wales was out of the question we took a caravan at Cresswell Towers for four nights and explored parts of mid and North Northumbria that are just that bit too far for a day trip.”

“We walked as far as the point of the crescent and realised we could, if we wished, walk all around the next bay to Dunstanburgh.  We didn’t because we had one or two more places to go to ...”

We've visited Beadnell once before but it was blowing a hoolie.

This time it was much more pleasant.
Fester finally found an information board to look at by the limekilns (now used for lobsterpot storage) on the quayside: apparently it was a good one.
A Facebook friend asked “Is he is collector?”
Only in the sense that he immediately stops and reads every one he comes across and always has, irrespective of whether he should have been watching the children.   I used to get really annoyed because I spent all my time shepherding them whilst he got to fully appreciate whichever castle or ancient monument we were in.
So I have quite an extensive collection of "Fester reads an information board" photos.
It's small revenge but every little helps.

We considered having lunch in Seahouses but it was so busy there were huge queues outside all the fish & chip cafes.  Instead we went to the Co-op for some groceries, sandwiches and other components of a picnic and drove up to Budle Bay.

Budle Bay is more like a lagoon and the road running around the landward side has laybys for those who want to stop and enjoy the birdlife.  Apart from the odd passing car all you can hear are gently lapping waves, the calls of the birds and an occasional farm animal.

Like many thousands (millions?) of people, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a special, magical place for me.

We'd checked the tide times before going away so knew causeway would be covered, but being so close I had to just go and have a look.
Thunderthighs got as close as he could.
His father and I think this picture looks like an album cover.
Suggestions from Facebook friends include “The Road To Lockdown”, Ry Cooder, Hipnosis or late Roger Dene.

I think it's a perfect metaphor for how I’m feeling at present.
