No Fireworks

Last night was the first Bonfire Night for nearly twenty years that we haven’t been to the Fireworks at Novos Rugby Club.

At first we were worried that Ferretfingers’ aural hypersensitivity would mean the bangs would be too much for him.  Not a bit of it.  A good pair of ear defenders and the colours and fire entranced him.  But when he got into his teens he decided he preferred staying home in the warm with the tv and computer, to getting all wrapped up and going out in the cold.

Thunderthighs, being a traditionalist, still wanted to go.

So for the past few years he and I have put on wellies, big coats, hats and gloves, followed the crowds to Sutherland Park and handed our money over to the Squireen who coaches and volunteers there.
Afterwards we come home and have mugs of hot chocolate.

Here’s a Facebook memory

Thunderthighs "I won't have tea at 5 o'clock tonight Mum"
Why not?
"Because every time we go to the fireworks and I want to buy something from the van you say

'But you've just had your tea' so I'm not having any."

Strawangel Well there you go!  You can't blame the lad's reasoning and I'm sure a hot dog tastes much better than what you've prepared😉
Bentonbag Point of order - his father does the cooking 😃
