Today
Ferretfingers will start going back to the Day Centre for one day a week.
The
scheduled pick up time is 09.30, but they sometimes arrive early so I keep an
ear open for the sound of the minibus from about nine o’clock.
Here’s what happened a few years ago.

I'm up in
the office looking at Facebook and I hear a vehicle's sliding door open.
Look out the window, see the back end of a
white van, assume it's the Day Centre minibus and rush downstairs shouting
"They're here!!!"
"Who’s
here?" from recumbent husband
"Who
do you think? Bloody Santa Clause?!"
Ferretfingers is on his way into the kitchen so I grab his packed lunch from the fridge, shove it in his hand to put in his bag and rush to open the front door.
No van!?
Hear the sound of the sliding door from the next street.
Two doors
down two neighbours are out.
"Was
there a big white van here?" - three times because she's going deaf.
"Oh
yes, it was the Hospice charity van picking up my bag of donations."
And breathe …
