Today to Hexham so Dr F can continue his pursuit of information about pits.
I sat quietly in the Local Studies section writing a letter while he rootled about.
He comes up chortling
with a copy of "Water Beetles of Northumbria by Dr Fester et al".
"Class library" he says triumphantly "and somebody even borrowed
it in 2001!"

is great that Fester is doing all that work on recording pits; all that information
would be lost otherwise and will be invaluable to future historians.
