In order for Ferretfingers
to be cared for at home the NHS Occupational Therapist organised the loan of a
commode and a “stand” from the local authority.
The stand is a wonderful device.
It allows a 14stone woman to move a 22stone young man from his bed to
the chair, commode, dining table and back again, easily and safely.
More steps back to normality.
The spare bed is back up in Ferretfingers's room and the armchair, rocking chair and coffee table that were shifted to make space for it are now back in the living room. The rugs that were taken up to remove trip hazards for the washers are back down.

Ferretfingers has just got himself into and out of the
bath.
There was a joyous cry of "My
feet's moving" as the warm water relaxed the stiffness.
And he's just told me "The stand and the crutches we've got to get rid of them."
Yes I've phoned the council to take them away.
"What day will that be?"
I don't know it depends on the corona virus.
Of course the reason he wants the stand shifted is that it's in front of the treadle sewing machine, which is where he normally has his laptop. He's currently using it sitting in an armchair with the laptop and mouse-mat on stools in front and to the side of him.
Mrs
