The Naming Of Rooms

From Facebook archives

19 June 2016

For quite some time after Granma died we called the front room and adjoining scullery and bedroom "Granma's Room".

Then Dad knocked the bedroom and scullery together, changed the Belfast sink into a wash handbasin and redecorated and it no longer seemed right to call it Granma's Room.
So he dubbed it The East Wing.
When I left home Mum and Dad moved from their small bedroom into the big front bedroom which had once held us three girls.  It became The Master Bedroom and he named the little room they'd left The Glanrwyth Suite, after the field and farm it looked out onto.
The littlest bedroom remained Middlesister's room forever.

Here at Chateau Midden it was Big Bed Room and The Boys' Room.  Then we did the loft extension and The Boys' Room became Ferretfingers' Room and the loft The Loft.

However in memory of Dad, from this Father's Day forth the loft will be called The Penthouse Suite.
