Islands of Ignorance

A teacher once described Ferretfingers as having ‘islands of ability’.

We have a family saying ‘being au fait with the zeitgeist’ – or not as the case might be.

One of our kitchen drawers has taken to opening on its own; shutting one of the others often results in it opening itself.

Being busy in the kitchen this lunchtime I commented to Fester "Keeping these drawers shut is getting to be like Whack-A-Mole."

"What's Whack-A-Mole?"

"Thunderthighs!  Explain Whack-A-Mole to your father."

"You seriously mean he doesn't know what Whack-A-Mole is?"

"Apparently."

The zeitgeist has disappeared over the horizon.

Last night, in bed, at crossword time I discovered he didn't know that 'notre' is French for 'our'.
