It’s a long one but it’s a Bank Holiday
I’m
combining these two because they mark the end of the Facebook posts about the
ankle saga.

The community nurse says Ferretfingers can be signed off.
All that's left is a scab.
If he
wasn't such a picker we'd be happy to leave it uncovered, but I don't want to
take the risk.
He's been picking at his
shin leading to 4 little holes in various stages of repair, so the nurse can
see the problem.
I believe the picking
is a stress thing - he must have been very stressed over the past six months
too and it has to come out somehow.
On
the bright side he is now allowed baths and to go swimming.
Tonight he will have his first bath since
12th March.
Swimming will have to wait
as he's quite enjoying the gym and all its machines with screens.

Sitting
here doing my facebook thing, hear an imperious "Mu-um", go into his
bedroom with a "What?" to find him lying, smugly, with the
elastoplast off and final bit of the scab gone.
Since he was discharged by the community nurse
I've been putting dressings on to prevent him picking at it (and another has
gone on this morning).
Last March his
leg was open from the top to the bottom of that pink scar line, infected and
clotfilled.
I'm beginning to believe
it's over, but will be watching it like a hawk for some considerable time.

Finally, that's nicely healed. Now, if you can stop him scratching
around it for a little while longer it'll all be beautiful healthy skin. After
which you both deserve a huge reward!

Can you recommend any oil or ointment that I can use to moisturise it
and hopefully stop any picking? I'm still putting dressings on but it's getting
pricey as he reacts to the cheap plasters' adhesive.
